Instagram has already introduced Snapchat-style stories to the app. Now it has further enhanced it by adding stories to the Explore Tab as well. This was revealed in an announcement made by Instagram.
Instagram Adds Snapchat-Style Stories to The Explore Tab. The company states 100 million people visit the tab every day to find photos and videos from accounts they don’t follow. Now they’ll see stories there as well, a rolling series of posts that go 24 hours after they are posted, just like on Snapchat.
Instagram Adds Snapchat-Style Stories to The Explore Tab
Instagram had two main objectives for adding stories. The first was to get users to share more pictures and videos at a time when their rate of sharing had begun to drop. The second was to blunt the thrust of Snapchat. That has turn into the default place to share and socialize for a younger generation. So far, it appears like Instagram stories are working adequately. The company states that one-third of its 300 million daily users interact with stories every day.
There are still some loopholes in Instagram stories, no face-swapping filters or long standing storage of the kind presented by Snapchat’s memories. But the explore tab remains a benefit that Instagram has over its younger contender. That has resisted with what tech types call “discovery”, the mechanism that permits you find exciting new accounts to follow. The new Explore tab feature is available on both Android and iOS.
At one time, Snapchat had proposed that it lacks an explore-style tab. Because the app is intended for communication with your nearest friends and family. Simultaneously, it has become a home for huge media marques, artists, and the kind of young social-media stars who used to get renowned on Vine. If Snapchat won’t add a tab to highlight them, Instagram is eager to fill the vacuum.
