Selfies are in trend now a days and is considered as one of the daily important task to do. But no one realizes that by taking selfies with animals can have impact on it. One can not at all realize its side effects on animal. Instagram Hashtags will now Alert Animal Abuse Department.

Keeping this in view the photo sharing app, Instagram has warned its users about their photos potential link to animal abuse and harm. Instagram has hundreds of hashtags which will trigger a pop up message when searched.

A warning text will appear which will alert users about harmful behavior to animals or environment. This alert system is same of its kind to that of suicide prevention method on Instagram. Upon posting hashtags related to suicide a pop up appears what is linked to hashtags of self harm.

Upon adding hashtags with selfies with animals, a new message appears that:

 “animal abuse and the sale of endangered animals or their parts is not allowed on Instagram.”

Previously World Animal Protection has previously petitioned Instagram to include more about wild animal abuse in Instagram’s user guidelines. World Animal Protection collaborated with World Wildlife Fund to help social media channels to come up with a list of hundreds of hashtags to alert users about animal cruelty.

According to National Geographic a hashtag like #slothselfie and #koalaselfie will trigger a new alert system. This new animal abuse feature will let people think twice before posting.
