Instagram Will Soon Allow Users to Download a Copy of Their Instagram Data

Soon Instagram will allow users to download a copy of all Instagram Data, which they have uploaded on the photo-sharing platform. Yes, Instagram is going to build its own data portability tool that will allow users to download a copy of everything they have ever shared on this social platform.

At this moment Instagram is not going into the details of this feature because it is yet to be finalized. It is not clear that to what extent will the company allow backing up the user data, whether it will be limited to simply letting users download all the photos and videos they have uploaded or will they also be able to get a backup of all the Stories, which users have archived and all the messages they have sent.

Soon Instagram will Let Users to Download Their Instagram Data

This new tool will facilitate Instagram users to monitor how much of their data is on the platform. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has confirmed in testimony to the House Energy and Commerce Committee in Congress that the company would comply with GDPR in Europe and in the US, where it’s not yet required.

Instagram said in a comment that:

“We are building a new data portability tool. You’ll soon be able to download a copy of what you’ve shared on Instagram, including your photos, videos and messages.”

However, that shows Instagram has locked all the information uploaded to it like Facebook. We can say that trustworthiness of these services is always a suspect.
