iOS 18 Lets Users Customize Layout of Home Screen App Icons

iOS 18 will soon bring exciting changes to how iPhone users can customize their Home Screen app icons, offering greater flexibility and customization options, according to sources familiar with Apple’s plans.

While app icons have traditionally been arranged in a locked grid system on the Home Screen, iOS 18 will reportedly allow users to arrange icons more freely. This means users may be able to create blank spaces, rows, and columns between icons, providing a more personalized and organized layout.

The news was first reported by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who described the upcoming changes as making the Home Screen “more customizable.” While users have been able to customize their Home Screens using third-party apps like Shortcuts and Widgetsmith, Apple’s customization options will be more integrated and user-friendly.

iOS 18 will also bring additional customization options to the Home Screen, which could mark the biggest revamp of the Home Screen in several years. This aligns with Apple’s ongoing efforts to provide users with more ways to personalize their devices.

Apple will likely announce iOS 18 at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June. In addition to the Home Screen changes, the update will include new generative AI functionality for Siri and multiple apps, RCS support in the Messages app for improved messaging between iPhones and Android devices, design changes, and more.

Overall, iOS 18 promises to be a significant update for iPhone users, offering new ways to customize and organize their devices to better suit their needs and preferences.
