iOS 27 Beta 2 Arrives With New Siri Features, RCS Improvements, and More

Apple has released the second developer beta of iOS 27, offering a closer look at the features expected to arrive when the operating system launches later this year. Alongside iOS 27 beta 2, Apple also rolled out updated beta versions of iPadOS 27 and macOS 27, continuing its unified approach to software development across devices.
The latest beta builds on announcements made during WWDC 2026, with much of the attention focused on Apple’s ongoing effort to enhance Siri. While the changes are largely incremental, they provide a clearer picture of how Apple’s AI-powered assistant will evolve in the coming months.
iOS 27 Beta 2 Arrives With New Siri Features, RCS Improvements, and More
One of the most notable additions in iOS 27 beta 2 is the introduction of “Write with Siri,” which replaces the previous AI-powered Writing Tools prompt on iPhones and iPads. Users will now see a prominent “Write with Siri” prompt displayed above the keyboard before they begin typing. If they choose to type without assistance, the prompt minimizes into a simple Siri icon, creating a less intrusive experience.
Apple has also made several under-the-hood improvements to Siri’s responsiveness and performance. Additionally, some features within the new Expressive Voice experience are now labeled as “coming soon,” indicating that further capabilities are still in development ahead of the public release.
Better Messaging Through RCS
Apple continues to strengthen communication between iPhone users and those on non-Apple devices through enhanced Rich Communication Services (RCS) support.
With iOS 27 beta 2, Apple has added support for message reactions and inline replies within RCS conversations. These features bring messaging between iPhone and Android users closer to parity with Apple’s iMessage experience and represent another step toward improving cross-platform communication.
The update follows a broader trend of increased interoperability and security improvements for messaging between Apple and non-Apple ecosystems.
Additional Updates
Beyond Siri and messaging enhancements, Apple has included several smaller but useful improvements across its platforms.
On macOS Golden Gate, iPhone Mirroring has received fixes that address issues reported in the first beta release, resulting in a smoother experience for users testing the feature.
Apple has also enabled firmware updates for the recently introduced AirPods Max 2, allowing owners to keep their headphones up to date through the latest beta software.
More Changes Likely Ahead
As with any beta release, additional features and refinements may emerge as developers spend more time exploring the software. Apple is expected to continue iterating on iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 throughout the summer before their official launches this fall.
For now, iOS 27 beta 2 offers a glimpse into Apple’s growing AI ambitions, improved cross-platform messaging capabilities, and ongoing efforts to create a more seamless experience across its ecosystem.
