iPhone 18 Pro Max Could Get a Bigger Battery, New Leak Suggests

Apple’s next-generation iPhone lineup is still a few months away, but new leaks have already started revealing what users can expect. According to recent reports, the iPhone 18 Pro Max may arrive with a significantly larger battery than its predecessor, potentially offering even longer battery life.
The information comes from a well-known smartphone tipster, Digital Chat Station, who reportedly spotted battery details in regulatory filings from China. While Apple has not confirmed the information, the leak provides an early look at one of the biggest hardware upgrades that could be coming to the premium iPhone model.
iPhone 18 Pro Max Could Get a Bigger Battery, New Leak Suggests
If the leaked information is accurate, the iPhone 18 Pro Max will feature a battery with a capacity of 5,391mAh in China and 5,567mAh in the United States.
Here is the paragraph rewritten in active voice:
Apple uses a physical SIM card tray in iPhones sold in China, which reduces the space available for the battery. In contrast, U.S. models rely on eSIM technology, allowing Apple to use the extra internal space to fit a slightly larger battery.
Compared to the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which reportedly packs a battery between 4,823mAh and 5,088mAh depending on the region, the new model could offer around a 10% increase in battery capacity.
Smaller Upgrade for the iPhone 18 Pro
The standard iPhone 18 Pro will also receive a battery upgrade, but the increase appears to be much smaller.
According to the leak, the phone could include a 4,056mAh battery in China and a 4,288mAh battery in the U.S. This is only a slight improvement over the iPhone 17 Pro, which reportedly features batteries rated at 3,988mAh and 4,252mAh, respectively.
While any battery increase is welcome, the upgrade on the Pro model will be less noticeable than the one planned for the Pro Max.
Battery Capacity Isn’t the Whole Story
A larger battery does not always mean dramatically longer battery life. The actual performance of a smartphone depends on several factors, including the processor, display efficiency, software optimization, and power management features.
Apple has consistently improved battery performance through hardware and software optimization. Even modest increases in battery size have often resulted in noticeable gains in everyday usage.
If Apple combines a larger battery with a more efficient chipset in the iPhone 18 Pro Max, users could see a meaningful improvement in screen time and overall battery endurance.

Leak Still Needs Confirmation
Despite the promising details, the report should be treated with caution. The source behind the leak has reportedly noted that the battery figures for the iPhone 18 Pro Max still require further verification.
As with most early smartphone leaks, specifications may change before the final product is officially announced.
Launch Expected in September
Apple will widely unveil the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max during its traditional September launch event.
Reports also suggest the company could introduce its first foldable iPhone at the same event, called the iPhone Ultra. If true, this would mark one of Apple’s biggest product launches in recent years.
Until Apple makes an official announcement, the leaked battery details remain unconfirmed. However, if the reports prove accurate, the iPhone 18 Pro Max could become Apple’s longest-lasting smartphone yet, making it an attractive option for users who value extended battery life.
