Researchers at MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory have developed a system. This new system will give robots a greater understanding of the random objects in our world and our closets. Household Robot will help you at picking up your shoes, matching them in pairs and putting them away.
Household Robot Will help You to Clean Up Your Mess
With MIT’s technology, a robotic arm could assist and a household robot will know how to grab a mug by the handle or a shoe by its tongue. This new system learns more about the objects over time and put items inside a box in a specific way.
Pete Florence, the co-lead author of the paper said:
“We want robots to learn by themselves how to very richly and visually understand lots of objects that are useful for lots of task
For robotic arm training, the researchers put groups of similar objects, such as shoes, hats, and mugs, in front of household robot. The robotic arm moved the products, examined their features and learned what they had in common. After analyzing different shoes, the household robot learned about the placement of laces.
Florence said that this research builds on previous advances in computers vision, deep learning and robotics. This paper will be presented at the Conference on Robot Learning in Switzerland in October.
