IT Minister & AIC Hold Meeting to Discuss Digitalization in Pakistan

Lately, a meeting took place between the Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, and members of the Asia Internet Coalition (AIC), including Managing Director Jeff Penn. The agenda of the meeting was the advancement of digitalization in Pakistan and the importance of promoting responsible social media usage, digital rights, and e-safety.

During the meeting, Minister Shaza Fatima highlighted the government’s commitment and efforts towards digital transformation and also pointed out PM Shahbaz’s strong support for the private sector as outlined in the Pakistan Vision. Furthermore, she reiterated the importance of promoting a culture of responsible social media usage. She stressed the importance of using social media platforms for positive contributions while mitigating potential risks associated with misinformation, cyberbullying, and privacy breaches.

The participants of the meeting including Additional Secretary Ayesha Humira Moriani, and members Syed Junaid Imam and Muhammad Jahanzeb Rahim from the Ministry of IT & Telecom, collectively stressed responsible social media use.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to further collaboration and dialogue between the government and industry stakeholders to boost digital infrastructure, promote digital literacy, and protect the online experience for all citizens. Minister Shaza Fatima showed optimism regarding the future trajectory of digitalization in Pakistan, affirming that continued cooperation and innovation will drive inclusive growth and development in the digital age.

The collaborative efforts between the government and AIC members signify a proactive approach to leveraging digital technologies for societal progress while ensuring the protection of the rights and safety of users.
