Government of Pakistan has decided to regulate fares of ride hailing services Uber and Careem. This decision came up with the strike of Taxi drivers against both Mobile App rides. ITA Recommends to Bring Careem and Uber Under Tax Net.
Islamabad Transport Authority has passed different recommendations to regulate Uber and Careem and have decided to bring them under Tax net. Both taxi hailing services provide luxury rides at low cost.

Jawad Muzaffar, ITA Secretary told that new proposals will force the drivers to display customized stickers on the front and back of their windscreen.
Motor Vehicle Examiner will provide fitness certificate to provide cars working with ride hailing companies. Uber and Careem will be provided with a fare list which they will have to follow strictly.
This is a bad decision on part of passengers, as these services have saved a lot of time which used to be wasted while negotiating fare with private taxi and rickshaws.
Few months back Punjab Government banned Uber and Careem and declared them illegal as they did not registered private cars with any regulatory body.
Uber and Careem are the world’s most popular ride-hailing services , claiming on average 107 countries around the globe. In other countries they claim to surge prices three times the minimum fare during peak hours and four times between midnight and 5 am.
