ITU-PTA to Organize Asia-Pacific Regulators’ Roundtable & International Training Program 2016

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), are organizing the “ITU-PTA Asia-Pacific Regulators’ Roundtable” and the “ITU-PTA International Training Program (ITP) 2016”. The events will be held from 18-22 July 2016 in Islamabad, Pakistan.

This Regulators’ Roundtable is the 6th consecutive time since the Asia-Pacific Region took the initiative to organize the annual Roundtable to provide telecommunication/ICT regulators in the region with a platform that fosters dynamic and strategic discussions, sharing information, relevant experiences and practices as well as conclusively debate on possible solutions and opportunities for potential collaboration to address emerging regulatory issues and challenges.

ITU-PTA to Organize Asia-Pacific Regulators’ Roundtable & International Training Program 2016

The ITU-PTA International Training Program 2016 will build skills to address the policy and regulatory issues in the era beyond convergence of telecommunications, information technology. In particular, the event will focus on the implications of a smartly digital society for collaborative regulation. The Program will highlight the building blocks required to ensure regulatory measures remain relevant and appropriate for the new environment. It will bring together international experiences in this area with a focus on Pakistan’s experiences and the lessons learnt.

Please register your interest as soon as possible but not later than 15 June 2016. Please note that participation in the Regulators’ Roundtable is limited to senior representatives of telecommunication/ICT policy making and regulatory agencies only. Both the events will be conducted in English and will be paperless.

ITU is pleased to provide one full fellowship to one participant duly authorized by the respective ITU Administrations from Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Low-Income Developing Countries from the Asia-Pacific Region, subject to available budget as well as for full participation at this training program and the roundtable. THE 6TH ASIA-PACIFIC REGULATORS’ ROUNDTABLE: REGULATORY APPROACHES FOR SMART DIGITAL SOCIETIES

The need for continuing dialogue and experience sharing amongst Information and Communications Technology (ICT) regulators and policy-makers has been consistently expressed in various ITU fora particularly as we are in the midst of increasingly converged smart digital societies.

This Regulators’ Roundtable is the 6th edition of the Asia-Pacific Region initiative to organize an annual Roundtable to provide telecommunication/ICT regulators in the region with a platform that fosters dynamic and strategic discussions, as well as sharing of information, relevant experiences and practices and to conclusively debate on possible solutions and opportunities for potential collaboration to address emerging regulatory issues and challenges.
