ITU to Organize First Meeting of the Focus Group on Digital Currency on 12 Oct, 2017

The first meeting of the Focus Group on Digital Currency including Digital Fiat Currency will take place on 12-13 October 2017 in Beijing, China. The FG DFC meeting will take place at the Institute of World Economics and Politics (IWEP), Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). The FG DFC meeting will be preceded by a Workshop on Standards for Digital Fiat Currency for Universal Financial Access on 12 October 2017 at the same venue. The workshop is organised jointly by ITU and Institute of World Economics and Politics, Chinese Academy of Social Science (CASS) with the support of Digital Currency Research Institute of People’s Bank of China, Chinese Academy of Information and Communications Technology and Digital Fiat Currency Institute.

The main objectives of this workshop will be to disseminate the final outputs of the ITU Focus Group Digital Financial Services (FG DFS) and provide an overview of future events, which will take place for the next phase of digital financial services. The event will include participation from ICT regulators, Central Banks, mobile network operators, mobile money operators, payment service providers and academia.
