ITU, UNPOG and WeGO Organizes Asia-Pacific Region Forum on e-Government, Smart Cities, and Digital Societies

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) with collaboration of the United Nations Project Office on Governance (UNPOG) and the World e-Governments Organization of Cities and Local Governments (WeGO) organized the Asia-Pacific Region Forum on “e-Government, Smart Cities, and Digital Societies for Sustainable Development”. This event was held at Plaza Athénée Bangkok Hotel from 19-20 August 2015. Another event on ITU Regional Development Forum on “Smartly Digital Asia-Pacific” was also held at the same venue from 21-22 August 2015.

PTA’s Chairman Dr. Ismail Shah and Mudassar Hussain, Member Telecom, represented Pakistan on this occasion.

The forums were hosted by the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, Thailand and supported by the Department of Communications, Australian Government.
The Asia-Pacific Regional Forum had provided a great opportunity for high-level dialogue among development partners, policy makers, decision makers, and executives of the industry as it provided a platform for knowledge sharing and formulating and strengthening partnerships and collaboration between various stakeholders. Moreover, in view of the Post-2015 Development Agenda, this Forum also provides help to facilitate inputs and discussions about ways to move toward Sustainable Development Goals.

The Forum also provided an opportunity for companies and organizations to showcase innovations, products and services in an exhibition area by the meeting room. Participation and contributions from the private sector and the industry were also encouraged.
