Jazz Loses Market Share in July as Ufone-Telenor Group Nears No. 1 Spot
Jazz loses market share in July as the combined Ufone-Telenor share moves within 0.06 percentage points of the top spot.

Pakistan’s cellular market is heading toward a closely contested battle for the top position, with Jazz losing market share in July while the combined share of Ufone and Telenor moved to within a fraction of the market leader, according to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) data.
Jazz remained Pakistan’s largest cellular operator with a 36.09% market share in July 2026, down from 36.25% in June.
However, following the acquisition and subsequent integration of Telenor Pakistan into the PTCL Group, the combined market share of Ufone and Telenor now stands at 36.03%, based on the latest PTA figures.
That puts the Ufone-Telenor combination just 0.06 percentage points behind Jazz, bringing the merged telecom business within touching distance of becoming Pakistan’s largest cellular operator by market share.
PTCL completed the acquisition of Telenor Pakistan, while Telenor Pakistan was later amalgamated into Pak Telecom Mobile Limited (PTML), the company operating Ufone.
| Operator | June 2026 | July 2026 | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jazz | 36.25% | 36.09% | -0.16 pp |
| Zong | 26.72% | 26.83% | +0.11 pp |
| Telenor | 21.17% | 21.06% | -0.11 pp |
| Ufone | 14.81% | 14.97% | +0.16 pp |
| SCO | 1.05% | 1.04% | -0.01 pp |
While PTA continues to report Ufone and Telenor separately in its market-share data, their combined July share provides a clearer indication of the scale of the newly consolidated telecom business.
Race for the No. 1 Spot
| Group / Operator | July Market Share |
| Jazz | 36.09% |
| Ufone + Telenor | 36.03% |
| Zong | 26.83% |
| SCO | 1.04% |
The combined Ufone-Telenor share is therefore only 0.06 percentage points below Jazz.
Ufone was also one of the strongest performers during July, increasing its share from 14.81% to 14.97%, while Telenor slipped slightly from 21.17% to 21.06%.
Jazz, meanwhile, saw its share decline by 0.16 percentage points, matching Ufone’s gain over the same period.
Zong also strengthened its position, with its market share rising to 26.83% from 26.72%, while SCO edged down to 1.04%.
The figures underline how the Ufone-Telenor consolidation has altered the competitive balance of Pakistan’s telecom market. While Jazz continues to hold the top position, its lead over the combined Ufone-Telenor business has narrowed to a virtually negligible margin.
The merger has created a significantly larger telecom operation with a broader subscriber base, network footprint, and spectrum portfolio, strengthening its ability to compete with Jazz and Zong.
With the gap at the top now standing at just 0.06 percentage points, even a relatively small movement in subscribers could change the ranking of Pakistan’s largest cellular operator in the coming months.
