The Ektra is intended to be a camera first, presenting photographers DSLR abilities within a smartphone. The smartphone comes pre-built with a custom camera app that provides the users a variety of innovative features. It provides features like sport, bokeh, macro or manual settings like shutter speed, focus and exposure.

The Ektra has a 21 megapixel rear camera with a f2.0 aperture and a 13 megapixel front camera with a f2.2 aperture.
It has been professed by the company that a special covering has been applied to the lenses which permits more light to reach the sensor. Ultimately thorough photos are then captured in low light. They also said that the lens on the camera lessens the sensor noise and enhances any underexposed parts to help alleviate blur from the slow shutter speeds.

The design of the phone is based on the available Ektra camera model that was introduced in 1941. The back of the camera displays an open large lens which isn’t mutual in other smartphones.
