Lenovo Claims to Launch First 5G Smartphone

As we know that many smartphone manufacturers are rushing to work on releasing phones with 5G support. We heard from many manufacturers about the next-generation 5G to come in their upcoming devices but Lenovo Vice President Chang Cheng has confirmed that Lenovo will be the first company to launch a 5G smartphone.

The upcoming device will be powered by the new Snapdragon 855 SoC. However, if lenovo is serious to be first to launch 5G smartphone and want to win the race, then the first phones with the new Snapdragon 855 chipset should launch by the end of 2018 or early 2019.

Lenovo to Rolls Out First 5G Smartphone

Cheng posted on Weibo that Lenovo will be the first to launch a smartphone with 5G support but has not unveiled any timeline for launch. Let’s see that will the Cheng’s claim be turn into reality or it will remain just a claim.

Oppo, Huawei, and OnePlus are also working on 5G smartphone. Huawei has confirmed that it will unveil a 5G smartphone in the third quarter of 2019, on other hand Oppo has announced its partnership with Qualcomm for 5G phones next year.

OnePlus also announced that its 2019 flagship will come with 5G support. The leaks also suggest that Samsung’s Galaxy S10 flagship will have 5G support.

Moreover, Vivo claims to launch its first 5G-capable smartphone next year with Qualcomm’s X50 5G NR modem.

Xiaomi, Nokia brand licensee HMD Global, Sony, LG, and ZTE have also partnered with Qualcomm for 5G modem. So let’s see who will win this competition and who will be the winner?
