LG said in the filing:
“Nothing has been decided on the issue. It is true that a growing number of clients are showing interest in flexible OLED with the market’s expansion recently,”
Do now, LG does not confirm about the deal but it also does not deny it. So we can expect that both companies may have a deal for OLED panels and will soon get information about this deal.
According to some sources, for past two year, Google and LG have in a talk about such potential investment. Not only Google, earlier some rumors were claiming that LG will supply LCD displays to Samsung. However, later on, LG CEO Han Sang-beom has confirmed that LG will start supplying South Korean rival Samsung with LCD displays.
This is the first deal between LG and Samsung. They had never trade for displays before. However, company has not told any exact date about the supply of LCDs.
According to the Electronic Times, Google is investing to get stable supply of OLED screens. Earlier last year, Google asked Samsung for AMOLED screens for its Pixel smartphones. Now Google has asked LG for OLED screens for its upcoming Pixel smartphones.
