LHC Nullify DTH Auction; Ask PEMRA to Restart the Process From Scratch
Lahore High Court (LHC) has declared the Direct-to-Home (DTH) auction illegal. LHC Nullify DTH Auction because broadcasters were disallowed to take part in the bidding. LHC also asked PEMRA to start the process again from scratch. The decision was made by LHC bench. Justice Ayesha Malik announced the decision as she was heading the bench.

Pakistan Electronic and Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has previously started the biding process. But it did not allow the broadcasters to take part in the bidding. In November, PEMRA has also shortlisted the 12 companies  for DTH Licenses. Then Supreme Court has issued orders to the PEMRA to hold the auction for a while.

In a Single Day, Government Generates 14.694 Billion through DTH Auction. The maximum bid verified till now was Rs. 4.91 billion, offered by M/s Shahzad Sky Pvt Ltd Islamabad, followed by a Rs. 4.9 billion bid from M/s Mag Entertainment Pvt Ltd Lahore and Rs.4.898 billion bid from M/s Startimes Communications Pakistan Pvt Ltd Islamabad.
The greatest benefit of DTH include its 5 times more high resolution video quality. It is a wireless system and the audio of TV is also very good. Now LHCÂ asked PEMRA to re-conduct the auction from scratch.
