Zaka made this decision on the basis that such approval must under go through the Council of Common Interests (CCI) consultation; but unfortunately CCI was not approached.

Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah said that:

“The cabinet has no authority to grant permission.”

Now the Chief Justice of LHC has adjourned the hearing for six weeks.

The Federal Government in December, 2016 issued the orders to transfer the administrative control of these regulatory bodies under their relevant ministries; which were previously reporting to either the cabinet division or PM of Pakistan.

The Government of Pakistan (GoP) has established these regulatory bodies under the Musharaf regime in order to protect well the interests of consumers.
