Meta Launches Muse Image AI Model to Boost Creative Tools for Users and Advertisers

Meta has officially introduced Muse Image, its new AI model for image generation. The launch marks the company’s latest step in expanding its AI capabilities while attracting creators, advertisers, and premium subscribers to its ecosystem.

Meta Launches Muse Image AI Model to Boost Creative Tools for Users and Advertisers

The new model has been developed by Meta Superintelligence Labs, the company’s AI division led by Alexandr Wang. Muse Image is the second major AI product from the team, following the introduction of the Muse Spark language model earlier this year.

Free Access With Subscription Options

Meta is making Muse Image available for free through several of its platforms, including the Meta AI app, Meta AI website, WhatsApp direct messages, and Instagram Stories.

However, users who want to generate a larger number of AI images or unlock advanced features will need to subscribe to one of Meta’s monthly AI plans. Those who reach their free usage limit can either wait for the limit to reset or upgrade to a Meta One subscription for continued access.

New AI Tools for Advertisers

Muse Image is not for everyday users. Meta is also integrating the model into its Advantage Plus advertising platform to help businesses create marketing visuals more efficiently.

The AI can generate multiple versions of an advertisement, change styles, adjust design elements, and create new image variations while maintaining a brand’s identity. According to Meta, this will help advertisers produce high-quality creative content with less manual work.

The company says advertisers and agencies will begin receiving Muse Image-powered creative tools over the coming weeks.

Reducing Dependence on Third-Party AI Models

Before launching Muse Image, Meta relied on external AI models from companies such as Midjourney and Black Forest Labs for several image and video generation features within its AI services.

With its own in-house image model now available, Meta aims to reduce its reliance on third-party technologies while offering a more integrated AI experience across its apps.

How Muse Image Compares

Meta also shared the results of its internal performance tests. According to the company, Muse Image performs better than Google’s Nano Banana 2 model in image editing tasks involving both single and multiple images.

However, Meta acknowledged that OpenAI’s latest GPT Image 2 model still delivers stronger overall image generation performance in its internal comparisons.

Independent testing will provide a clearer picture of how the new model performs in real-world use.

AI Expansion Continues

The launch of Muse Image is part of Meta’s broader strategy to expand beyond its traditional advertising business and generate new revenue from AI-powered products and services.

The company is also working on Muse Video, an AI model designed for video generation. Meta says the upcoming model is expected to offer strong prompt accuracy, high visual quality, and smooth frame consistency.

Wider Rollout Planned

Muse Image is currently available through selected Meta services, with broader support planned later this year. The company has confirmed that the AI model will eventually be integrated into Facebook, Messenger, and additional features across Instagram and WhatsApp.

As competition in the AI space continues to grow, Muse Image represents Meta’s latest effort to build a stronger presence in AI-powered content creation while offering new tools for both individual users and businesses.
