Microsoft Windows 10 Reaches 270 Million Active Users

The world’s largest software company Microsoft, claims to have 270 million active users on Windows 10.That’s surely very impressive number which Microsoft has revealed at the developer conference. This announcement was made by executive Terry Myerson at Microsoft’s annual gathering for developers in San Francisco.

In November 2014, the Windows Store and Windows Phone Store collectively had over 500,000 apps. Then in September 2015, the company revealed the Numbers with the statement which was not very clear;

“There are 669,000 apps for phones, desktops, and tablets in the Windows Store. Hundreds more are added every day.”

In the start of year 2016, Microsoft said that the Windows 10 has almost 200 million devices with the fastest growing Operating system ever. Now in the end of March they replaced they last figure with 270 million devices.

One of the major reason for increasing popularity is the Microsoft strategy for staying in a mobile-centric world. In this world the rivals like Amazon.com Inc, Apple Inc and Alphabet Inc’s Google is giving tough time by having more consumers and developers.

Another reason for this boost is the free availability of Windows 10,for the first year released in July. Although Microsoft is still dominating the market for personal computer software, but its share of smartphones is less by comparing it with other companies.

Somehow the company is trying to catch up with the rest by promising to release Facebook and Instagram universal apps. But in the meeting at Microsoft’s annual gathering company did not reveal anything big about their promised apps.
