Milestone Achieved: 3G/4G Subscribers in Pakistan Reaches 51 Million

No doubt with the launch of 3G and 4G services in Pakistan, many opportunities are welcomed and with each passing day we are witnessing a rise in 3G/4G subscribers. According to the recent report issued by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), one more milestone is achieved as telecom sector witnesses 51 million 3G/4G Subscribers in Pakistan with penetration of 25.32%. 

A Huge Increase in 3G/4G Subscribers in Pakistan

The stats simply narrates the success story of efforts of Pakistani mobile operator’s regarding digital Pakistan initiatives and providing best ecosystem in the country. In December 2017, 3G/4G Subscribers in Pakistan reached 47 Million. From these stats it is evident that just in just in period of 2.5 months, telecom sector of Pakistan has witnessed 4 millions more 3G/4G subscriber.

As evident from the table above, 4G LTE subscribers have crossed 10 million mark with Zong being a market leader with ~5.8 million subscribers. 3G has also seen a huge growth and has crossed 40 million mark, this time Jazz won the game. 3G Plus 4G combined subscribers crossed 51 million with Jazz being the market leader with ~17 million subscribers.

Mobile Phone subscribers are 147 million, stagnant from last two months which is not a good news. In order to improve this number, operators will have to add more towers in same area to hold them. They should also maintain quality and reliability for a wireless broadband network. So that they will be able to provide quality of service for increasing number of consumers.

The telecom sector of Pakistan has undergone through huge transformations after the arrival of 3G and 4G services in the country. From the increase in mobile phone penetration to the launch of various m-Services; Pakistan’s telecom sector has become a success story for some regional countries who are left behind in technological race.
