MIT’s new AI can Kill the Irritating Video Buffering

Researchers from Massachusetts Institute of Technology have developed an AI called Pensieve. According to MIT, Pensieve can reduce time of video buffering. This technology uses machine learning to consider the best adoptive it rate for each video piece.

The usual system make a trade off by compromising on video quality and how much re buffering it needs to view the clip. With the new proposed tools, the system will use the most suitable AI that depends on the situation to reduce buffering to 30%.

MIT Professor Mohammad Alizadeh said:

Studies show that users abandon video sessions if the quality is too low, leading to major losses in ad revenue for content providers

MIT team revealed that Penesieve can stream videos with 10 to 30 percent less re buffering at levels that users rates 10 to 25 % higher on key quality of experience metrics. The researchers will present their paper at the SIGCOMM Conference in Los Angeles.
