Mobile Broadband Penetration will Touch 38% by 2018: Anusha Rehman
Anusha Rehman, State Minister for Information Technology and Telecom said in her speech during “World Telecommunication and Information Society Day 2016” celebrations that around Rs 14 billion projects were initiated in order to promote the IT sector of Pakistan. The Minister informed the audience that Government has successfully addressed the issues which were confronted by the IT sector of Pakistan from last few years with the introduction of Cyber Crime Bill and Telecom Policy of 2015.
Anusha Rehman, also said that broadband penetration (MBB) will reach to 38% by 2018, which is currently 18%; and is higher than Bangladesh and India.
The Minister said that:
“The IT sector had potential to contribute 1.5 per cent to the GDP, adding that the telecom ministry had taken initiatives to promote entrepreneurship and employment in the IT sector.”
