Mobile Phone Import Decline by 5.78 Percent During FY 2016-17 as compared to the same period of the previous year. During the period under review mobile imports were recorded as $709.69 mn against the import of $753.224 mn in July-June (2015-16).

Mobile Phone Import Decline by 5.78 Percent During FY 2016-17
According to the latest data issued by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), mobile imports in June, 2017 showed an increase by 12.02% in May, 2017 and 9.97% in June, 2016. Whereas, imports in June, 2017 were recorded as $72.549 mn as compared to the imports of $64.762 mn in May, 2017 and 65.972 mn in June, 2016.
Also the overall telecom imports also decreased by 0.38% during July-June (2016-17) to $1.356 bn from $1.361 bn in the same period of the preceding year.
Many reasons could have contributed to this downfall in the imports. But future is bright and could be expected a rise in the imports as the Budget 2017-18 announced some relaxations for entire ICT sector of Pakistan.
