Mobile Phone Import Witnesses an Increase of 48 Percent in July

According to the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics , Mobile Phone Import Witnesses an Increase of 48 Percent in July. The mobile phone imports increased by 48.41 percent and reached to $68.57 million during the first month of Fiscal year.

This is a very good figure when compared to the mobile phone imports of last year in July which was $46.20 million.

However imports have decreased by 4.89 percent in July this year as compared to June. According to PBS data, Mobile Phone Import in June 2017 was $72.5 million. But overall telecom imports have increased to $114.01 i.e; 53.53 percent as compared to $74.25 million in July 2016.

Import of other telecom apparatus has witnessed a growth of 61.97 percent in the month of July. Telecom Products import reached $45.44 million as compared to $28.05 million in July 2016.

PBS data further revealed that monthly import of telecom apparatus increased by 51.18 percent in the month of July.

Many reasons could have contributed to the increase in the imports. Future is bright and could be expected a rise in the imports as the Budget 2017-18 announced some relaxations for entire ICT sector of Pakistan.
