Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry has announced that the Moon-sighting App will be ready by 15th of Ramazan and it will be launched very soon.
He further said that there was an issue of sighting moon, therefore the ministry decided to develop a moon sighting app where anyone can see the crescent. Comsats University will make this moon-sighting app, furthermore, he also invited Islamic scholars to check this app. The lunar calendar will be ready by 15th of Ramazan and after that, the app will be available for everyone.

He proposed Grade 14-16 jobs for Imams of the mosque and stated that the state should provide job to clerics. Moreover, he added that the moon-sighting app will indicate the exact dates of Islamic festivals, including Ramazan, Eidul Fitr, Eidul Azha and Muharram.
Fawad Chaudhry said that the formation of science and technology-based economy and the governance were two important challenges for PTI government. The PTI Government is also strengthening the science-based research institutions in the country.

Nasim Nawaz, Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology, Syed Yawar Ali, Prof. Dr. Naveed A. Malik, Former Rector, Virtual University of Pakistan, and many others.
