Whereas NADRA has not specified any clarification listing their motives behind the hasty move, maybe the Registration authority was incapable to keep-up with the tremendous volume of requests, henceforth the move to suspend the service for the time being. This move is expected to hurt common Pakistanis as getting an ID card through normal channels is an arduous and time wasting prospect at best.

The benefits of the IT and mobile revolution in Pakistan mean nothing if common people cannot be facilitated with the latest technology. For an actual digital Pakistan, NADRA’s online CNIC service signified a promise fulfilled, a symbol that Pakistan was acclimatizing to a digital future to better lives of its residents.

The well-received service was applauded both within and outside Pakistan. However it is anticipated that NADRA resuscitates the service for local Pakistani citizens as soon as possible.
