Other social media App like Facebook and Messenger have rolled out lighter versions of their App for people in developing countries where resources are less in numbers. However Instagram has not announced its plans to launch any Lite versions of its App. However it should be mentioned here that Instagram has the ability of working on offline functionality.

So up til no Lite version of Instagram is launched, it seems the company will rely on its mobile website to reached it target of 1 billion users. Instagram also introduced the ability to post photos from its mobile sites in May.
