NUST Organised Two Days Telecom Event- Hackathon

National University of Science and Technology hosted a two day mega international Hackathon. The entire event was organised by Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at NUST H-12 campus. NUST Organised Two Days Telecom Event- Hackathon.

Hackathon is a Telecom Application Development event. This event was held in collaboration with Telestax USA, Ufone, National Telecommunication Corporation and Technology Innovators. The same event was also observed in Karachi at NUST PNEC.

Telecom application development is a US based initiative, initiated in 2013 as an effort to build an ecosystem focusing telecom application development. The basic mission is to bring together business, developers , non-coders and enthusiasts in the telecom industry. In this way many local and global problems will be solved.

Like always, NUST received great response from Pakistan however shortlisted only 15 teams for the participation in mega event. A panel of judges included Couch Potato CEO Salman Wasay, Mr Ali Ahmed Sarwer, Ufone Technology Digital Services and Development General Manager Mohammad Faisal, UNHCR Information and Communication Technology head Anwer Khan, Evamp. The panel of judges also included Saanga CEO Dr Tariq Mehmood, Nexdegree Chief Data Scientist and Karachi IBA Professor Dr Syed Hussain Rizvi and Karachi Hamdard University FEST associate professor.

These judges assessed the applications developed by the participants. Moomble by Muhammad Hamza Zakir stood as the winner and Sahulat by Osama Arshad Dar, Shahzeb Naveed and Haider Ali Cheema stood as the runner-up.

The event was also attended online by Telestax USA co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Ivelin Ivanov. NUST received great response from the Telecom giants as Ufone and National Radio Telecommunication were the official sponsors and partners for the Hackathon.

Enlightening the telecom event, Hackathon , NUST pro-rector Dr Nassar Ikram said that this event will build entrepreneurial capabilities in youth. Hackathon will alsoi help in bringing the industry, business, developers and students together. Prize money and Souvenirs was distributed by Chief Guest, ICT Chairman Nooruddin Baqai.
