OpenAI May Preview GPT-6 Cyber Security Model Within Days

OpenAI may soon introduce a new artificial intelligence model designed specifically for cybersecurity. OpenAI is reportedly preparing to preview GPT-6 Cyber within the next few days as it works to strengthen its position in the rapidly developing AI security market.
According to a report by Fortune, OpenAI could unveil GPT-6 Cyber during its Dev Day event on September 29. The company may also preview the model earlier than that date. The full launch is reportedly expected within the next few months.
Alongside the new model, OpenAI is also said to be working on a product that will help customers deploy GPT-6 Cyber more securely. The company has not yet revealed the name or full details of this product.
OpenAI May Preview GPT-6 Cyber Security Model Within Days
GPT-6 Cyber is already being tested through OpenAI’s Daybreak preview program. The program provides selected and verified partners with access to advanced AI models so they can test their cybersecurity capabilities and identify potential vulnerabilities.
The planned launch comes at a time when AI-powered cyber threats are receiving increased attention. Several frontier AI companies, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and Meta, have recently faced incidents involving AI systems being used in cyberattacks or security testing environments.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei have also called for greater caution around the rapid development of advanced AI systems. The concerns have grown as researchers continue to examine how autonomous AI agents could be used by attackers.
OpenAI has already announced a major cybersecurity initiative through its Daybreak program. The company plans to spend $1 billion to subsidize access to its advanced AI models for cybersecurity defenders around the world. The initiative is intended to help security researchers and organizations use AI to identify and respond to cyber threats.
However, the growing use of AI in cybersecurity presents a difficult challenge. The same technology that can help defenders detect vulnerabilities can also give attackers more powerful tools.
Security professionals are increasingly turning to AI for protection. An EY survey published in March 2026 found that 96% of corporate cybersecurity leaders considered AI a core cybersecurity solution. 95% said they had already deployed AI in some form. However, the use of autonomous AI agents was still largely in an exploratory stage.
The survey also highlighted concerns about the risks posed by AI-powered attacks. Around 90% of respondents said employees who are not prepared for AI-driven cyberattacks could become their biggest security weakness.

Another survey by the Institute for Security and Technology found that 72% of national security professionals considered adversarial use of AI one of their top three security concerns. At the same time, 78% viewed cybersecurity as one of the three most promising areas for AI.
This highlights the growing race between AI-powered attacks and AI-based security tools. As companies develop more capable models, cybersecurity is becoming an increasingly important part of the AI industry.
OpenAI recently introduced its Sol and Luna models, which focus on improving AI performance while reducing costs. The possible arrival of GPT-6 Cyber would add another major focus to the company’s expanding AI lineup.
