Oppo Find X Bend Test Failure Highlights Careful Handling
Zack Nelson, the voice behind the JerryRigEverything YouTube channel always amazes us with his usual stress tests on the handsets. Recently he has decided to put the Oppo Find X through a brutal stress test. The phone failed the test. Oppo Find X bend test failure reveals that this phone should be handled with care.
Result Of Oppo Find X Bend Test
The Oppo Find X has a large retractable camera module that houses both the front and rear-facing cameras along with a few different sensors. The bend test has proved that Oppo spent more time innovating on where to hide the device’s cameras instead of reinforcing the inside of the phone. The company has worked on the camera module more efficiently but they have not shown love for the inner strength of the hardware.
While performing the test, Nelson was easily able to bend the Find X using his hands. This act quickly shattered the display and the glass covering the back of the device. When he removed the back glass, Nelson found that the Oppo Find X had almost no internal reinforcement other than the device’s aluminum frame. There was almost no metal on the inside of the phone. Moreover, there was no structural partition between the battery and the motherboard of the smartphone. So, bending of Oppo Find X was not matter of surprise anymore. That’s quite a rare occurrence with flagships.
Let’s now talk about the good part of the destruction. When Nelson removed the back glass there was a single stepper motor which was doing most of the heavy lifting. There was a decent amount of wiggle room in the camera array. This instability means that the users would lose access to all of the phone’s various sensors if any damage is inflicted in the camera module.
It’s comforting to know that most structural damage will not harm the mechanical camera array of the phone. All you need to do is to put your phone in a smart case to avoid bending damage otherwise its good to go.
