Organization of Islamic Cooperation Summit on Science and Technology Postponed
The first ever Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Summit on Science and Technology which was to be held Mid-November-2015, has been adjourned due to unavailability of different heads of states, a top official revealed.
Dr Shaukat Hameed Khan, Coordinator General COMSTECH, said on Thursday that various heads of states were likely to attend the OIC Summit but due to the commitments made before they would not be available. So he said that because of their unavailability the planned summit postponed.

Talking to APP, Dr Shaukat briefed that he had discussed the involvement of Heads of States with the respective representatives of those countries in Islamabad to participate in the event jointly organized by the Government and the COMSTECH.
He also said that the OIC Standing Committee on Science and Technology (COMSTECH) had prepared a main document for 57 member countries particularizing programs and priority areas in science and technology as well as joint programs for next 10 years.
The Coordinator General COMSTECH said he had organized meetings with envoys of 25 OIC countries in successive groups during last two months and discoursed with them agenda of the meetings. They were fortified to take part and share not only fund for imminent research but also for exchange of manpower, technology and institutional facilities, he added.
Dr Shaukat informed that all efforts are being made to conduct the summit and soon the next plan would be declared as it was the most significant event to support innovations in the arena of science and technology.
