Pakistan 3G Auction Policy Directive Finalized: Anusha Rahma

Ms. Anusha Rehman Khan Minister of State for Information Technology Anusha Rehman said that the four mobile phone companies in the country had shown interest in the auction reported GEO News. The minister added that the policy directive would be approved by the Federal Cabinet Advisory Committee on Thursday.

Ms. Anusha Rehman also said that to introduction of 4G services in the Pakistani market would also be made part of the 3G Spectrum auction. Earlier, on September 28 while hearing the petition seeking the completion of the 3G license auction process and the appointment of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) chairman and members, the Supreme Court directed the government to expedite the said auction process. The Government of Pakistan has so far completed one big step towards the auction by appointing Dr. Ismail Shah as Chairman and two other members to complete the authority. The appointment of Dr. Shah is welcomed by the Telecom Industry, who is known for his competence and honesty.
