Pakistan Government Plans to Launch AI System to Monitor Ministries and Officials

The federal government of Pakistan is taking an important step toward digital governance by introducing an artificial intelligence (AI) system to monitor ministries, departments, and government officials. The new system will improve transparency, accountability, and the overall efficiency of government operations.

The platform, developed by the Pakistan Digital Authority (PDA), is based on advanced AI technology similar to ChatGPT. It will serve as a research and support tool for government officers. The system can access previous government directives, official orders, and policy decisions, allowing officials to quickly find relevant information and make better-informed decisions.

During a recent meeting, officials from the Pakistan Digital Authority presented a demonstration of the platform. They explained that the Prime Minister’s Office Monitoring System (PMOS) will enable the Prime Minister’s Office to communicate instructions directly to ministries and departments in real time. At the same time, government leaders will be able to monitor progress and performance through a centralized digital dashboard.

One of the most useful features of the system is its automated alert mechanism. This feature will send notifications to federal secretaries and other officials whenever a task remains incomplete after its deadline has passed. By providing timely reminders, the system aims to improve follow-up actions and ensure that government directives are implemented without unnecessary delays.

Officials also highlighted that the AI-powered tool will function as a virtual assistant for government employees. It will understand official procedures, workflows, and administrative processes, enabling it to assist officers in completing tasks more efficiently. This could reduce the time spent on routine administrative work and allow government staff to focus on more important responsibilities.

The initiative has received support from government leadership. Officials praised the efforts of the Pakistan Digital Authority and emphasized the need to further improve the platform before it is introduced on a larger scale. The government believes that AI can play a major role in modernizing public administration and improving service delivery across the country.

The new system will support the implementation of Pakistan’s National Digital Masterplan. By strengthening coordination among ministries and encouraging greater digital integration, PMOS can help create a more connected and responsive government structure.

Platforms such as Asan Khidmat Markaz and other online government services may become more efficient through better coordination and data sharing. The government also plans to expand the use of technology-driven solutions, including digital tax enforcement systems, to improve public sector performance.

Several senior government officials, including Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Secretary IT Zarar Hashim Khan, Chairman Pakistan Digital Authority Sohail Munir, and other key stakeholders attended the meeting.

With the introduction of this AI-powered platform, Pakistan is moving closer to a modern digital governance system that aims to deliver faster, more efficient, and more accountable public services.
