Pakistan Mobile App Awards 2016, is a joint initiative of PTA, Ministry of Information Technology and Internet Society (ISOC) Asia-Pacific Bureau in partnership with, National ICT R&D Fund, Telenor Pakistan, Special Talent Exchange Program, Youth Foundation of Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Pakistan Foundation Fighting Business and Pakistan Blind Cricket Council.

The winners of the ” Pakistan Mobile App Awards 2016″ will be announced on 31st, January 2017

This initiative has been taken to encourage Pakistani individuals who have developed the most innovative user generated or professionally produced content.

PTA to Announce Winners of “Pakistan Mobile App Awards 2016”

Minister of State for IT Mrs. Anusha Rahman will be the guest of honor for the awards ceremony.

Chairman PTA Dr. Syed Ismail Shah, CEO Telenor, Mr. Irfan Wahab, and professionals from the academia and the industry will be also there at the award ceremony.

The Awards are First Step Towards Highlighting the Accessibility Needs of PWDs

The details of the ceremony are as follows:

• Date: 31st January, 2017
• Time: 9:00 am
• Venue: PNCA Auditorium, F-5/1 Islamabad

PTA already announced the theme for the awards i.e “Embracing Mobile Accessibility for Persons with Disabilities in Pakistan” back in May. The winners have been selected on the basis of the criteria set for the awards.

The Awards are first step towards highlighting the accessibility needs of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). That account for 15% of the Pakistan’s population according to independent sources.

With the help of potential ICTs it is believed that PWDs can become more self-sufficient, independent and active in the society. In line with this vision, Pakistan Mobile App Awards 2016 has provided the best platform for the developers to interact and assess the needs of PWDs at various awareness workshops. That have been held in major cities across Pakistan.

PTA also conducted a similar competition of mobile app award in 2015. In which winners were selected and the announced prizes were distributed. That competition also aimed at encouraging young innovators and entrepreneurs to develop new mobile applications
