Pakistan Modernizes Document Attestation with Nationwide Apostille Digital System

Pakistan has taken a major step toward digital governance by introducing a nationwide Apostille Automated Attestation System, replacing the traditional manual process with a fully digital, secure, and efficient platform for document authentication intended for international use.
Since its launch, the system has authenticated 633,877 documents for 255,835 citizens, ensuring official recognition of Pakistani documents in 120 countries. The shift to a digital process has significantly reduced processing time, improved transparency, and strengthened safeguards against fraud.
Personal documents account for the majority of attestations, with 476,899 processed, followed by 147,390 educational certificates, facilitating smoother pathways for students and professionals pursuing opportunities abroad. The platform has also handled 5,582 legal documents, 2,936 commercial documents, 917 experience certificates, and 153 powers of attorney, demonstrating its broad applicability.
By eliminating manual verification, the Apostille Digital System enhances data security and builds public trust through standardized and traceable authentication procedures. Officials emphasized that the initiative aligns Pakistan’s document verification framework with international standards, improving global confidence in government-issued records.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which oversees the system, described the rollout as a key milestone in Pakistan’s broader public-sector digital transformation, reinforcing the country’s commitment to efficient, reliable, and globally recognized documentation services.
