Pakistan Railways to Introduce Free WiFi and e-ticketing Services
The Pakistan Railways is going to introduce the latest digitalised technology in trains and railway stations to facilitate passengers. Pakistan Railways to Introduce Free WiFi and e-ticketing Services. Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique has made a committee for the execution and completion of this plan within a few weeks.
Pakistan Railways to Introduce Free WiFi and e-ticketing Services
The free WiFi hotspot will be available at all divisional level railway stations. Moreover in all passenger trains as hotspots will provide fast internet connectivity to passengers free of cost. A couple of years ago, the Pakistan Railways started WiFi facility to one of its business class trains only. But last year same service was introduced in Green Line Train.
Moreover, the plan also include the online ticketing setting up of high tech web gadgetry and tele-conferencing facility at all divisional level railway stations. An agreement had already been signed between the Pakistan Railways and United Bank Ltd for providing e-ticketing facility.
Passengers will be able to use credit or debit cards and the UBL Omni mobile banking application to get the tickets.  An SMS containing ticket number train date and time coach and seat numbers will be send to the passenger’s number.
No exact date is revealed when these services will be publicly available to the passengers. But the authorities ensure that these services will be available soon.
