Pakistan Secures 16th Spot in Global Outsourcing Talent Rankings

Pakistan has made notable progress in the global technology landscape by securing the 16th position in the Global Outsourcing Talent Index. This achievement places the country among the top 9 percent of nations worldwide, highlighting its growing reputation as a reliable destination for outsourcing and tech talent.

According to recent reports, Pakistan’s technology industry is expanding at an impressive annual growth rate of around 20 percent. This consistent progress reflects the increasing demand for Pakistani professionals in areas such as software development, freelancing, and IT-enabled services. The country’s young and skilled workforce continues to play a key role in driving this growth.

Despite this achievement, there is still room for improvement. Experts suggest that with a stronger digital infrastructure, Pakistan could climb even higher in the rankings, potentially reaching the 11th position. Improvements in internet speed, connectivity, and access to advanced technologies are seen as critical factors in unlocking this potential.

Federal Minister for Information Technology, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, welcomed the ranking and emphasized the government’s commitment to transforming Pakistan into a global hub for technology and outsourcing. She stated that ongoing efforts will strengthen the country’s digital ecosystem and create new opportunities for innovation and investment.

One of the major initiatives includes the completion of a spectrum auction and the rapid progress of a nationwide fiberization plan. These steps will significantly improve internet quality and accessibility across the country. In addition, three new submarine cables are being introduced, which will further enhance Pakistan’s international internet connectivity.

The government is also working on strengthening digital links with China and Central Asia through land-based connections. These efforts aim to position Pakistan as a key regional player in digital trade and data exchange.

Another important focus area is skill development. The Ministry of IT has set an ambitious target of training one million young people in artificial intelligence skills. Programs like DigiSkills are already helping thousands of individuals gain freelancing and technical expertise, enabling them to participate in the global digital economy.

Pakistan has also increased its presence on the international stage. Over the past 18 months, the country has participated in more than 40 global technology events. During this time, over 400 Pakistani companies and startups have showcased their capabilities to international audiences, helping to attract investment and build partnerships.

Overall, Pakistan’s rise in the Global Outsourcing Talent Index reflects both its current strengths and future potential. With continued investment in infrastructure, skills, and global engagement, the country is steadily moving toward its goal of becoming a leading global technology hub.
