Under the program, officers from more than 40 government departments will receive specialized cybersecurity training. The move will improve cyber resilience across key public institutions and strengthen coordination in responding to emerging digital threats.

As part of the national cybersecurity strategy, authorities have also decided to organize the country’s fifth Cybersecurity Hackathon. The competition will be held in eight major cities, with a budget allocation exceeding PKR 220 million. The event aims to identify and nurture cybersecurity talent while promoting innovation in digital security.

The hackathon will attract significant participation from across Pakistan, with approximately 1,450 teams and more than 3,500 candidates set to compete. Participants will be challenged to solve real-world cybersecurity problems and demonstrate their technical skills in a competitive environment.

In addition to the hackathon, 26 specialized workshops will be conducted in 20 cities nationwide. These workshops will provide hands-on training and professional development opportunities for aspiring and experienced cybersecurity experts. Successful participants will also be eligible for awards and incentives, encouraging greater engagement in the field.

Pakistan’s growing focus on cybersecurity is reflected in its international standing. According to the International Telecommunication Union’s Global Cybersecurity Index 2024, Pakistan ranks among the world’s top 46 countries in cybersecurity preparedness and development.

The latest initiative underscores Pakistan’s commitment to building a secure digital future, developing local expertise, and preparing the nation for the evolving challenges of the cyber age.
