Pakistan’s 5G Auction to Take Place Before Ramadan, PTA Confirms

Pakistan is moving closer to launching 5G services, with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) confirming that the spectrum auction is expected to take place before Ramadan, PTA Chairman Hafeez Ur Rehman announced.
Speaking to reporters, the chairman said preparations for the 5G spectrum auction have been completed, and the PTA will soon request government approval to proceed. “The launch of 5G services in Pakistan is no longer a distant prospect,” he added.
The PTA plans to issue an Information Memorandum (IM) within the next 10 to 15 days, which will provide telecom operators with detailed terms and conditions for participating in the auction. Once issued, operators will have 45 days to submit their bids.
Chairman Ur Rehman noted that if the IM is released by January 1, the auction could be held as early as February 15, paving the way for the nationwide rollout of 5G services.
The authority has emphasized that the auction framework ensures transparency, efficiency, and fair competition, aiming to improve mobile broadband services and accelerate Pakistan’s digital connectivity.
This step aligns Pakistan with global trends where 5G deployment is seen as crucial for economic growth, innovation, and technological development.
