Pakistan’s First Moon Sighting Website is Official, Eid on June 5

A few weeks back, while addressing a press conference in Karachi, Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry had announced that the Moon-sighting App will be ready by 15th of Ramazan and it will be launched very soon. He kept his promise and launched Pakistan’s first moon sighting website yesterday.

The website shows The  Hijri calendar and also shows moon visibility Maps. This moonsighting website and a calendar show the Islamic dates and months for a period of five years. Through this online portal, people will be able to see the moon in their territory. Hence the chance of uncertainty will be eliminated.


According to the website, Eid Ul Fitr will be celebrated on 5th June 2019 in Pakistan. However, Eid Ul Azha will be celebrated on August 12, 2019. As revealed above, this website tells the tentative dates for the next five years so next year Eid Ul Fitr will be marked on 24 May, and Eid Ul Azha will be on July 31.

Fawad Chaudhary also ensured that the launch of this website will not affect the role of religious clerics. While addressing this issue, he said that there is nothing wrong with using knowledge.
