Passengers with 1645 Mobile Phones Arrested at Rawalpindi Airport

Yesterday, at Benazir Bhutto International Airport in Rawalpindi, four suspicious people are arrested. Passengers with 1645 Mobile Phones Arrested at Rawalpindi Airport. Customs officials recovered 1,645 mobile phones of various brands and 10,700 memory cards from then when they were returning from Dubai.

According to the customs officials, Muhammad Ejaz Inspector intercepted four passengers coming from Dubai via flight number PK-234. He also recovered 1,645 mobile phones. The phones worth Rs 20 million along with thousands of memory cards from their luggage.

The suspects were identified as

  • Muhammad Faisal Memon (Karachi)
  • Nazeer Abdullah (Karachi)
  • Waqar Umar (Kohat) and
  • Nazeer Abdullah (Kohat)

However, According to officials, a criminal case had been registered against the passengers and further investigations could lead to evidence about involvement of staff of the airline.

A customs official said that the smuggling attempt was not possible without help from staff of the airline. According to him, the weight of one hand carry bag could not exceed 8-kg. Each of four bags carried by the smugglers weighted over 40-kg that clearly showed involvement of staff of the airline.
