PM Appoints Abdul Waheed as Deputy Director for ‘Cyber Security for Digital Pakistan’ Project

The federal government has appointed Mr. Abdul Waheed as Deputy Director (GRC), PPS-10 under the project “Cyber Security for Digital Pakistan Phase-I,” according to an official notification issued by the Cabinet Secretariat’s Establishment Division.

The appointment was approved by the Prime Minister and will be effective immediately. Mr. Waheed has been engaged on a contract basis for a period of one year, or until the project is completed, whichever occurs earlier. The contract may be extended in accordance with applicable rules.

The project is being implemented by the National Telecom and Information Security Board (NTISB) under the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT). It forms part of the government’s broader efforts to strengthen Pakistan’s cybersecurity framework and protect critical digital infrastructure.

The notification, dated January 6, 2026, states that the appointment will remain in effect until further notice.

Copies of the notification have been forwarded to the President’s Secretariat, Prime Minister’s Office, Cabinet Division, Establishment Division, MoITT, the Principal Information Officer, and other relevant departments for record and compliance.
