PM Suggests Uber Inc. to Explore Further Business Opportunities in Pakistan

At the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos on Wednesday, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has negotiated with Dara Khowsroshahi, CEO of Uber Technologies Inc. He has encouraged the Uber’s operations in different countries. PM Suggests Uber Inc. to Explore Further Business Opportunities in Pakistan.

MoS for Information Technology Anusha Rehman, Special Assistant to PM Ali Jehangir Siddiqui and senior government officials were also present in the meeting.

The Prime Minister invited Uber to partner with Pakistani banks and the Prime Minister’s Youth Program to help drivers in financing vehicles for Uber. He also appreciated Uber for leading the model of a “sharing economy”.

During meeting the avenues and opportunities regarding effective participation by Uber in Pakistan’s economy in a meaningful manner were also discussed.

The Prime Minister assured Dara Khowsroshahi and said:

The Pakistani market held a lot of potential for the Uber, which could provide the commuters added value for money.

Uber Technologies Inc. has started the operations in Pakistan in March 2016 and is operational in 7 cities. It has started its services back in 2009 and now available in 450+ cities in over 75 countries spanning 6 continents.
