PTA Approaches Google for ELS

PTA has approached Google for offering Emergency Location Services (ELS) to Android users in Pakistan. ELS sends location of users when they make calls on emergency numbers like 1122, 15 etc. PTA Approaches Google for ELS.

It works like when you dial an emergency service number like 1122 or 15, your Android phone determines your precise location using a collation of Wi-Fi, GPS, and cell tower data. It works both indoors and outdoors, and far more reliably than conventional emergency technologies. Enhanced 1122 or 15’s location uses cell tower location and assisted GPS alone, techniques which can produce radii of up to several kilometers.

PTA Approaches Google for ELS

Emergency Location Services assists the dispatcher (Public Safety Answering Point -PSAP) to direct ambulance or Police or fire brigade at exact location. It helps in saving precious time and in turns it saves precious lives.

However, Google has also requested for some information like is there is a single organization, that could be government or private, which is responsible for safety of public. Google has also asked about that how many emergency telephone numbers are there in Pakistan and what are they used for.
