PTA Asks Zong to Speed Up the SIMs Distribution
Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Syed Ismail Shah directed Zong to improve its system and increase SIM distribution points to facilitate internally displaced persons of North Waziristan agency.
To supplement the government’s efforts in hassle-free distribution of aid to the North Waziristan’s IDPs, the PTA chairman along with the Chairman National Database and Registration Authority Imtiaz Tajwar visited IDP camps in Bannu. Senior officers of PTA, Nadra and cellular operator Zong (China Mobile) accompanied them.
During the visit, chairmen PTA and Nadra informed about the registration process for distribution of money through SIMs of Zong. Chairman PTA directed the officials of Zong to further improve their system and asked them to increase SIM distribution points for the facilitation of the people in camps.
The Zong officials briefed PTA chairman about the procedure being followed to disburse money through its SIMs. They said that they had increased the staff and made available sufficient SIMs in view of large number of IDPs.
It may be recalled that Zong has signed an agreement with FATA Disaster Management Authority and it is offering free SIMs to IDPs for seeking speedy relief in transparent manner.
