PTA Collaborates with Industry to Launch Smart Pakistan Initiative

PTA has aimed at creating ‘Smarter Communities’ in its Vision 2025 future road-map. Smart Pakistan Initiative is first path-breaking step towards achieving this objective.

PTA Collaborates with Central Asian Cellular Forum to Launch Smart Pakistan Initiative

In collaboration with the Central Asian Cellular Forum, the initiative has been developed to work for the following three dimensions:

  1. Smart Pakistan Mobile Application Information Portal– Smart-Pakistan (www.smartpakistan.pk) is a first of its kind platform that will provide one stop repository and directory of all mobile applications and portals for different thematic areas of development such as mEducation.pk, mHelath.pk, mGovernment.pk and other such initiatives. It informs, encourage, promote and use of mobile applications and services related to a connected society and benefits of the mobile ecosystem for socio-economic development. The emphasis will be to promote mobile applications and services that are relevant to the Pakistani society and at the same time encourage operators, OEMs and local developers growth opportunities.
  2. Smart Pakistan m-Lab- PTA has also set up a ‘Smart Pakistan m-Lab’ in its headquarters to provide business, mentoring and coaching services for young mobile applications developer and entrepreneurs. It will also provide start up, acceleration and launch services to the developers.
  3. Creating a coherent mobile innovation echo System- PTA through its Smart Pakistan initiative is aimed at t bringing all stakeholders such as citizens, government, mobile operators, OEMs, international organizations, academia, mobile entrepreneurs and others under one platform to build a sustainable echo-system.

The Smart Pakistan is an ongoing initiative and its m-Education Platform is being formally launched on 07th  July, 2015 at PTA Headquarters.
