Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is considering a policy to block Short Message Service (SMS) to stop SMS Spam.
PTA considers a Policy to block SMS Spam
- Sources said that PTA has decided to terminate SMS service in case more than 200 SMS be sent in 15 minutes from any SIM card.
- After such closure, customer will have to submit an Affidavit for re-opening of the service and the restoration will only be for one time.
- A second time violation will end in a permanent SMS ban.
As PTA considers a Policy to block SMS Spam. So PTA has been taking measures for the stoppage of unwanted SMS for some time and this latest initiative my PTA is a result of customer complaints.
However, if sources are to be believed than this suspension criteria of 200 identical messages in less than 15 minutes could hit non-commercial but heavy SMS users as well.
