PTA Issues IM for 4G Auction; Sets 16th May Auction Date

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, in compliance with the policy directive, issued on 28th March, 2017 has proceeded to announced the Information Memorandum (IM) for Next Generation Mobile Services (NGMS) auction across Pakistan. This Information Memorandum (IM) sets out the rules, process, planned timetable and other background information to help prospective Applicants to decide if they wish to apply to participate in the NGMSA. PTA Issues IM for 4G Auction; Sets 16th May Auction Date.

All mobile operators are required to submit their applications to participate in the auction process by 30th April, 2017; whereas the auction will be held on 12th May, 2017. The entire process of the award is titled as “Next Generation Mobile Services Award (NGMSA)”.

PTA Issues IM for 4G Auction; Sets 16th May Auction Date

As per the IM, a 15 years’ License to use the NGMS spectrum will be awarded to the winner operator via a two stage auction process.

• Stage-1 of Auction (Pre-qualification Stage Including a Pre-Bid Offer)
• Stage- 2 of Auction: In this stage, if only one application is received from bidder, PTA will award the spectrum rights to the qualified Applicant directly on the base price; which was previously set as USD 295 million.

Additionally, PTA may also conduct an information session for prospective Applicants to explain the auction process and rules and to respond to all Applicants’ questions and concerns. Applicants will pre-register themselves for this session.
