As a part of Smart Pakistan initiative Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) in collaboration with MoITT organizes a workshop at PTA HQs for Women Developers. The initiative is unique and first of its kind in Pakistan; as usually there are few such steps taken especially for women in our country. The 7 Day workshop basically aims to provide training on Android Development & Augmented Reality.

On this Occasion, Chairman PTA Dr. Ismail Shah welcomed the participants and shed light on the significance of IT and Technological advancements in today’s world specially for women in IT. Ms. Ameena Sohail, Member Legal MoITT also addressed partipants and said that the MoITT & PTA has been working hard to bring Pakistani Women in mainstream and making technology available at their door steps that can empower them in playing their due role in the socio-economic uplift of the society. Mr. Omer Awan, Coordinator for Smart Pakistan PTA, explained the objectives and program of the workshop. The training mentors included Mr. Mohammad Usman and Miss Ayesha Ahmed; who are master trainers in the industry and have been providing training services in the region.
The participants were visibly impressed with the quality of the workshop arrangements made by MoITT & PTA and the training skills of the mentors.
Smart-Pakistan (www.smartpakistan.pk) is an initiative taken by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to encourage the use of mobile broadband; launched back in July 2015. This is a web portal which provides non- stop repository and directory of mobile applications focusing on different development thematic areas such as mEducation, mHealth, mAgriculture and mGovernment etc.
